Evans, Philp registered as a Limited Liability Partnership
EP Update - March 16, 2006
On January 1, 2006, the partnership of Evans, Philp was reconstituted with a focus on the future. Its partners are committed to the well-established traditions of excellence, client service and discretion.
This week, Evans, Philp registered as a Limited Liability Partnership under the Partnerships Act. Effective March 15, 2006, the firm will now be known as Evans, Philp LLP.
This registration does not affect the liability of any negligent partner. That partner continues to be personally liable for all loss caused by that partner’s negligent acts or omissions. In certain circumstances, registration as a Limited Liability Partnership will limit the personal liability of other individual partners of the firm, much like a shareholder in a corporation.
The Law Society of Upper Canada prescribes minimum levels of professional liability insurance. Evans, Philp LLP carries additional liability insurance beyond the minimum prescribed amounts and will continue to do so on an ongoing basis.
