LINDA M. O'BRIEN, Partner

Linda was born in Hamilton, Ontario. She is a graduate of the University of Guelph (Honours B.A. 1991) and the University of Windsor (LL.B. 1994). She was called to the bar in 1996.

Linda is a partner with Evans, Philp and a member of the Insurance Department Executive Committee. She is also the chairperson of the Firm’s Firm Profile and Client Development/Client Retention Sub-Committee. Linda’s practice is exclusively in the Litigation Department primarily in the area of insurance defence.

Linda has experience before all levels of courts in Ontario and before both the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) and private arbitrations. She is a speaker at both legal and insurance industry sponsored seminars.

Presently, Linda is a member of the Advocates’ Society, the Canadian Defence Lawyers Association, the Defence Research Institute and the Hamilton Law Association.

Areas of Practice: Ms. O'Brien has a varied litigation practice which includes civil litigation, insurance law (both tort and accident benefits); labour and employment law, commercial and estate litigation.

Community Involvement: Member of the Board of Directors of the Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association; past Director of the McMaster Children's Centre.
