ERIC C. NANAYAKKARA
Practice Areas:
Eric C. Nanayakkara articled at Evans, Philp LLP before being called to the Ontario Bar in 2008 when he joined the firm’s litigation group. Eric frequently represents some of Canada’s largest insurance companies and defends government interests in tort actions. His practice regularly focuses on protecting and advancing the subrogated interests of the firm’s clients in an array of legal proceedings including debt recovery, breach of contract, misrepresentation and negligence.
Education:
Eric earned his bachelor degree in History at The University of Western Ontario, and then studied in Australia receiving a Juris Doctor degree with distinction from the Bond University Faculty of Law. Upon his return to Canada, Eric attended at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and was awarded a Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. Eric has completed Masters of Law studies in the areas of Advanced Commercial Negotiations, International Investment Transactions, Legal Aspects of Business Acquisitions and Public Interest Law.
Boards, Committees and Associations:
Eric is the President of Arts Hamilton, Chairman of the CLIC Steering Committee and sits on the Strategic Development Committee at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. He is also a Director on the Board of Wellwood and a member of The Hamilton Law Association; Hamilton Lawyers Club; Canadian Defence Lawyers and the Hamilton Medical Legal Society.
